This is a repaint for the Flight Replicas Spitfire Mk.V as W3848 / JU-H operated briefly in the night fighter role by 111 squadron at RAF Debden in late 1941, flown by Sgt. Peter Durnford.
This long-lived Spitfire first flew on 11 September 1941 and served with at least four RAF squadrons - 111, 41, 122 and 222 - and with the USAAF 67th Reconaissance Group, where she bore the name 'Travancore II'. After a taxying accident in March 1944 W3848 was repaired by Heston Aircraft Ltd before joining 1661 Heavy Conversion Unit on 29 November 1944. Presumably used for communications, transport or fighter affiliation, W3848 survived the war only to be struck off charge on 27 December 1945.
