Air Anglia started the operations in 1970 to support the oil exploration in the north sea with the DC-3 "Dakota". From Norwich (where the airline HQ was located), Aberdeen and Humberside, later on connecting to Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburg and Dublin. The operations were profitable and slowly the Dakotas were replaced by F-27s.
Air Anglia in the end of the decade merged with BIA, Air Wales and Air Westward to form Air UK.
