I understand your point and have looked into doing that, but have not come up with how to make it happen.

When a window is created it is assigned a unique 'handle' (name) by the operating system. Then when you assign a control key to hide and show that window, that window's handle is assigned to that key, and the key controls the window through its handle or name. The problem is, each time the window is initially created, it gets a new handle from the operating system, so just saving the handle of a window between sim sessions doesn't work.

No, I have no plans for VR because I don't have any VR equipment, so no way to run tests, etc. Sorry.

Suppose you want to pop up and hide your web browser using KV10. The steps would be:

1.      Run the sim

2.      Open the web browser window on top of the sim to the desired page and resize it to some convenient size.

3.      Start KV10, you should see the large Window Selection box like on the top of Page 3 in the documentation with all the window selection buttons (I can't seem to paste it here).

4.      Click on the SelectWin1 button (the window selection box will temporarily close), and then after making sure the web browser window has ‘focus’ (is active, by clicking on it) push the KV10 WindowSelectKey (the Shift+Spacebar key combination assuming you are using the default Kv10Settings.ini file provided with KV10). You will then see a small window assigned message box like on the bottom of page 3 in the documentation. You can click OK or just wait and the box will close and the large Window Selection box should reopen. If you are done selecting windows click on the " – " to minimize the Window Selection Box to the Win10 Taskbar.                              

5.      You should now be able to hide and popup the web browser using the Ctrl+1 key combination, again assuming you are using the default KV10 Settings.ini file.

6.      To assign additional windows you repeat the above process. Note you always use the same key combination (Ctrl+Spacebar in the default case) to make a KV10 assignment, but the key or key combination which will then control that window depends on the key assignments in the KV10Settings.ini file. If using the default KV10Settings.ini file, Ctrl+1 controls popup selection 1, Ctrl+2 controls popup selection 2, etc. See the documentation.

Hi UKWidowmaker, Yes, you can put your info into just about any text editor or word processor like Notepad, Notepad++, Word, etc., and then use KV10 to hide or show the app on top of the sim. Al

Hi LawnDartPilot, I'm sorry to hear you had a problem with the KV10 download, but I have to think the alert from Norton is a false positive. I say this because when a file is initially uploaded to this site, it is checked for virus problems with a bank of about 60+ different virus checkers before flightsim.to will accept the file. Flightsim.to is very careful when it comes to viruses. I've also not had any other virus reports although there have been over 1200 downloads of KV10, so I just don't know what I can do at this point. Virus checkers are updated almost daily, so you might check again in a few days. Al

Then when you assign a control key to hide and show that window, that window's handle is assigned to that key, and the key controls the window through its handle or name. The problem is, each time the window is initially created, it gets a new handle from the operating system, so just saving the handle of a window between sim sessions doesn't work. However, there is a partial solution for what you want to do. Independent of KV10, open LittleNavMap and the PDF reader, etc., in windows and resize and position them where you like to have them in the sim, and then close the windows. Then when you initially open them to use with KV10, they will have retained their size and position, so all you have to do is assign them to the control keys. Since no further window sizing or positioning is required, it should only take seconds per window to set things up. And another thought, you could write a simple Batch file (your_name.bat) that when run would startup all the programs (LNM, pdf reader, KV10, etc) that you want to use with the sim. All the program windows would be opened, sized and positioned as described above, and you could then quickly assign the KV10 control keys. Al

Hi basrob, I need a little more info please. Can I assume you are using Win10 and MSFS? And exactly what settings are not saved between sessions? What should be saved in the KV10Settings.ini file are the keystrokes you have setup to use, and which windows you have selected to be controlled by the multi-window toggle key. Note that what each window is, that is, what program is in a particular window, is not saved. Al
